The Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race 2017 promises to be yet another blockbuster. The 73rd running of the Cruising Yacht Club of Australia’s 628 nautical mile blue water classic has attracted 107 yachts, including a record 30 internationals, four super maxis and some of the greatest names associated with ocean racing. From Tuesday 26th December 2017

Taste of Tasmania   – 28th December to 3rd January 2018 – returns to Hobart’s spectacular waterfront with over 70 stallholders this year. The festival offers visitors a range of seafood, cheeses, berries, cool-climate wines, boutique beers and ciders and much more, plus this year the event will feature exclusive collaborations, ‘Kids in the Park’ and unique spaces across the site – offering you a different experience each time you visit.

Street Eats at Franko If it’s not produced in Tasmania, you won’t find it at Street Eats. This night city market is the latest offering from the creators of Hobart’s much-loved Farm Gate Market. Showcasing fine craft beverages and exclusive menus not available other than at Franklin Square, the event is as much about showmanship and performance as it is about great local eats and drinks. Every Friday evening – 5.00pm to 9.00pm

Hobart International Tennis  – a women’s professional tennis tournament held in Hobart, since 1994. It forms a part of the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) Tour and is classed as an International tournament (previously Tier IV) with many of the stars of the Australian Open playing to earn their places in this national competition – 7th to 13th January 2018

Cygnet Folk Festival The 2018 Cygnet Folk Festival will be the 36th festival: such longevity is in itself worth celebrating!! As always we have a fabulous lineup of performers from allover this wonderful world. There will be music, dance, spoken word and poetry, circus, comedy and cabaret, a full weekend of kids performances and activities, workshops and sessions and instruments on display: and of course great local food and drink to keep up your energy for a weekend of fun! 12th to 14th January 2018
